Written by Michael Morpurgo and starring Liam Neeson, Moon & the Dolphin is a thirty minute Holiday Special with DNA from animation such as The Snowman. 

Set in coastal Cornwall in the 1920s, Moon and the Dolphin is the story of how a boy of ten with Down’s syndrome who is bullied by the inhabitants of a remote fishing village. Moon is befriended by a dolphin who becomes his constant companion. Moon & the Dolphin grips and holds; surprising us in turns with a series of reveals until it blossoms out into a father-and-son story that shows how kindness and charity can extinguish the dark forces of bigotry and hatred.

The story is told through the eyes of the Lighthouse Keeper, be played by Liam Neeson who has also come on board as an Executive Producer alongside Sally Phillips—who made the remarkable BBC documentary “A World Without Down’s” about her son Olly. Our Animation Director is multiple Anime award-winner Jason Carpenter whose work on The Biggest Little Farm was rewarded with an Oscar nomination, while, in 2017 he won an Emmy for My Name is Malala.

John Hay, the Emmy and Berlin Bear award-winning feature film director has written the screenplay with Rik Carmichael. The script was developed with best-loved children’s author, Michael Morpurgo who is currently adapting the screenplay for an illustrated novel which will soon be published by Harper Collins. The score will be composed by David Arnold who has scored five Bond movies.
